Theory- and Practical test

Whether it’s your theory or practical exam, Sunny Driving School helps you pass safely and quickly.

Theory

Before you can take the practical driving test, you must first pass the theory exam. This exam is designed to assess whether you have sufficient knowledge of traffic rules, traffic awareness, and hazard perception. In the Netherlands, the exam is administered by the CBR (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing).

Since April 7, 2025, this exam has been updated. The focus is now even more on traffic awareness, hazard perception, and applying the rules in realistic traffic situations.

What can you expect from the renewed theory exam?

The theory exam consists of 50 questions that you complete in one continuous test. These questions are a mix of:

  • Traffic rules and awareness

  • Hazard perception (now integrated into the scenarios)

  • Safe and responsible driving

Praktijkexamen

The practical driving test assesses whether you can participate safely, independently, and responsibly in traffic. During the exam, you demonstrate to a CBR examiner (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing) that you have mastered all the skills needed to drive on your own.

Before we can schedule your driving test, you must first have passed your theory exam and completed a health declaration with the CBR.

We always schedule the driving test in consultation with the student, so they can approach it with confidence. Our goal is to give learners the assurance they need and help them recognise that they have the skills required to pass. As a result, Sunny Driving School consistently achieves a pass rate above the national average, and we often send our students home with a smile.
